For teams that have outgrown awareness-level wellbeing.

Startups, SMEs, and enterprise teams all reach the same point: the app and the awareness course tick a box, but nobody's ready for the hard week when it comes. We train managers for the conversations that actually matter.

THE PROBLEM

Most companies have the wellbeing box ticked. An EAP nobody rings. An app nobody opens. A lunchtime awareness session that felt good for an afternoon.

Then something real happens. A valued team member is diagnosed. Someone loses a parent and comes back physically present but somewhere else entirely. A high performer burns out and the stress starts pulling the team down with them. And the manager — capable, well-meaning, promoted for being good at the job — wants to help but has no idea what to say. So they say nothing, and the silence gets noticed.

The hidden costs show up

  • Absenteeism
  • Presenteeism
  • Lower morale
  • Reduced productivity
  • Higher staff turnover
  • Managers with no confidence to help

The gap between “we offer wellbeing support” and “our managers can handle what people actually go through” is exactly what The Resilience Room is built to close.

WHY MOST WORKPLACE WELLBEING FALLS SHORT

Awareness is not capability.

Most of the market sells awareness — content that tells your people mental health matters, then leaves. It doesn't touch the moment a manager is sat across from someone who's just had bad news. That moment is a skill, and skills are built by practising them with someone who knows the terrain.

We go where other training won't.

Grief, serious illness, and the conversations managers are most afraid of getting wrong — not just stress-awareness slides.

It's delivered by a clinician, in person.

A qualified counsellor in the room, in small groups. Not a facilitator reading a deck they didn't write.

We build manager capability, not a policy.

Your managers are the wellbeing system your people actually meet. Equip them and the rest follows.

The Resilience Room

HOW A TYPICAL ENGAGEMENT WORKS

Four steps, no surprises.

Discovery call

30 minutes. We understand your team, your structure, and what you've tried before.

Proposal

Specific recommendations, prices, and dates within a week.

Pilot workshop

One programme, delivered with one team or one cohort of managers.

Review and expand

If the pilot lands (it usually does), we discuss wider rollout and whether a retainer makes sense.

We don't sell multi-year frameworks before we've proved we can deliver. The pilot is how trust gets built.

WHO DELIVERS YOUR TRAINING?

A qualified, clinically-trained practitioner. Not a trainer who read the slides.

Our training is delivered by Steve Pointon BSc (Hons) MBACP, a qualified counsellor who has spent his career working with people facing grief, illness, and serious psychological pressure — and an international speaker on resilience and workplace mental health.

Before his counselling career, Steve spent years as a senior manager in the security industry, responsible for teams of over 200 people and a client portfolio of more than £4 million. He understands the commercial pressures your managers work under, not just the clinical side.

This isn't bought-in facilitation. The person who designed the training is the person in the room — which means the depth you see described on this website is the depth you get on the day.

Every session is delivered live, in person, in small groups. No associates. No remote substitutes.

Worth a 30-minute conversation?

Whether you're a founder, an SME leader, or part of an enterprise People team — the discovery call is the place to start. No prep needed, no sales pitch.
